Karuk Community Loan Fund is an emerging Native CDFI established in 2004. The organization provides home improvement, first mortgage, and small business loans to Karuk Tribal members and low-income residents within upper Northern California and Southern Oregon. The FY 2009 NACA award will be used to: 1) pay staff salary and benefits; 2) train staff; 3) purchase loan management software; and 4) engage a professional services provider.

The Karuk Community Loan Fund, Inc. (KCLF) is an emerging Native CDFI, incorporated in 2004. The CDFI will provide loans, training and technical assistance to individuals of the Karuk Tribe and within the Karuk Territory. The awardee will use the 2008 Technical Assistance grant 1) for staff support, 2) to update its current market analysis, 3) to conduct a fund development campaign, 4) to design and develop financing products and its development services, and 5) to establish policies and procedures. KCLF was awarded $74,964.



NACA (2007) - $118,772

The Karuk Community Loan Fund is an emerging CDFI working toward certification in Happy Camp, California. It will use the Fund"s NACA TA grant to help it develop the capacity to provide housing loans to tribal members and the surrounding low-income community members. The grant will support the hiring of an Executive Director; to hire consultants to develop and provide development services to the applicant"s potential borrowers; to acquire training for the newly hired staff and the board members; and to acquire hardware and software to open the office.
