Illinois Service Federal (ISF) is a regulated Thrift in operation since 1934. Started by African-Americans to serve the African-American community, ISF is a certified CDFI that provides retail financial services and home mortgage lending to low and moderate residents of the South Side of Chicago. ISF is requesting a 2009 TA grant for: 1) technology improvements; 2) expanded marketing including a market study of the growing Latino market; 3) training; and 4) the development of improved impact measures.

Illinois Service Federal Savings and Loan Association of Chicago, Illinois received an award of $16,308 for increasing its financial services and community services and consumer, single-family housing, multi-family housing, commercial real estate and small business lending. The bank provided lending, investment, and service activities totaling almost $1.5 million in distressed communities in Chicago.
