The Heritage Capital Fund of Wolf Point, Montana is a certified CDFI that serves the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. In 2002, the Institute for Sustainable Development (formerly known as the Heritage Institute) received a Native American CDFI Technical Assistance (NACTA) award to assist them in establishing a CDFI. Later that year in June 2002, the Institute established the Heritage Capital Fund to provide business loans to residents of the Fort Peck Reservation. This CDFI is now operational and has begun lending.

CDFI Awards for Heritage Capital Fund


NACA (2005) - $120,000

The Heritage Capital Fund will use $50,000 of its $120,000 2005 Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) award as financial assistance to leverage non-federal funds in order to meet the demand for business loans in its community. The Awardee will use the remaining $70,000 technical assistance grant to obtain (1) consulting services to update strategic and capitalization plans and policies and procedures; and (2) support for operations.



NATA (2003) - $62,000

The Heritage Capital Fund is receiving a grant in the amount of $62,000 to purchase needed technology, to develop a housing loan product - including developing the product, and policies and procedures to govern implementation. This grant will also cover some staff salary and training costs.
