The Teton Coalition, Inc. is a non-profit housing development corporation serving the Native American community in Rapid City, SD. Its mission is to promote self-sufficiency for Native American and low-income families in Rapid City by developing affordable housing, promoting home ownership, and providing homebuyer education and one-to-one counseling services.

NACA (2007) - $148,500

Teton Coalition, Inc. (Teton) is a Sponsoring Entity established in 1993. Teton provides home lending and homebuyer education to American Indians and other low income individuals in western South Dakota, primarily Rapid City.Teton will create a separate Native CDFI entity within 2 years. Teton will use the 2007 TA grant of $148,650 to 1) hire and/or maintain in-house staff; 2) pay for staff and board training; and 3) purchase materials and supplies.



NACA (2006) - $60,000

The Teton Coalition was founded in 1993 as the Rapid City Housing Coalition with the primary mission of providing education and housing opportunities to low income individuals in Western South Dakota. The purpose of the Teton Coalition is to promote self-sufficiency of American Indian and other low-income families in the Rapid City area with respect to housing. The Teton Coalition will use the 2006 NACA TA award of $60,000 toward hiring a new Executive Director for a separate CDFI it is creating and to pay for consulting to develop a long-term strategic plan.



NACA (2005) - $65,000

The Teton Coalition will use a $65,000 technical assistance award through the 2005 Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) Program to help the organization prepare for certification as a community development financial institution. The grant will be used to: (1) purchase consulting services to develop a capitalization plan and policies and procedures; (2) acquire technology; (3) obtain training for staff and board members in the housing lending, CDFI operations and oversight; and (4) support staff salaries to assist in the development of the capitalization plan, a marketing plan, and the policies and procedures.
