First Nations Oweesta Corporation (FNOC) of Kyle, SD began as a program of the First Nations Development Institute and was spun off into a separate corporation in 1999. The awardee provides technical assistance and loan capital to help emerging Native CDFIs get established and to strengthen existing Native CDFIs.

First Nations Oweesta Corp. (Oweesta) is a certified CDFI in operation since 1999. Oweesta is the only certified intermediary serving Native peoples across the country help establish and build Native CDFIs. Oweesta provides training, technical assistance, and start-up loans to emerging Native CDFIs. Oweesta is requesting $500,000 in Financial Assistance and $150,000 in Technical Assistance.



NA (2008) - $637,000

First Nations Oweesta Corporation (Oweesta) is a certified CDFI established in 1999. Oweesta is an intermediary for the Native community providing programs through professional services designed to build local capacity, provide powerful tools for Native community development, and promote economic sovereignty. Oweesta will use the 2008 NACA award as lending capital and the TA grant to 1) hire new staff, 2) attend training on new software, and 3) purchase and install new software.



NACA (2007) - $149,912

First Nations Oweesta Corporation is a Native CDFI Intermediary that provides technical assistance and funding to Native CDFIs nationally. It is located in Rapid City, SD. The applicant will use a TA grant from the CDFI Fund"s NACA program to develop a new training product for its clients, upgrade its loan policies and procedures and computer systems, and to support staff salary and consulting services to develop and provide this new training product.



NACA (2006) - $622,000

First Nations Oweesta Corporation (Oweesta) in Rapid City, SD was established as a separate corporation in 1999. Oweesta will use the NACA Financial Assistance Award of $500,000 and Technical Assistance Award of $122,000 to provide technical assistance and loan capital to help establish emerging Native CDFIs and to strengthen existing Native CDFIs.



NATA (2004) - $87,300

First Nations Oweesta Corporation (FNOC) is receiving a Native American Technical Assistance (NATA) Program grant in the amount of $87,300 to obtain consulting services to design a web site, and to research and analyze the feasibility of expanding the organization into a full-service Native CDFI Intermediary and develop the related strategic plan; for staff salary to allow for its Director of Training and Technical Assistance to provide oversight of the web site development; and needed computer technology for its staff.

NACA (2004) - $865,000

First Nations Oweesta Corporation (FNOC) will use $745,000 of its $865,000 award through the Native American CDFI Assistance Program as loan capital. The remaining $120,000 is a technical assistance grant that will allow FNOC to build its capacity by supporting its operations, obtaining consulting services, sending staff to training, and purchasing computer hardware and software.



CORE (2002) - $250,000

FNOC will use the $250,000 grant from the Fund to leverage private sector resources in support of financial institutions serving some of the nation"s most remote and underserved communities.



SECA (2001) - $194,500

With the SECA award, the applicant expects to increase its capacity to provide technical assistance to CDFIs serving Native communities, increase its ability to make loans and investments and leverage additional capital.
