Networking and Professional Development of State and Large Urban System Correctional Directors
The field of corrections is constantly evolving, requiring continuous learning and professional development for correctional administrators.
With responsibility for leading complex correctional systems, Directors of Corrections are charged with managing human resources, developing and implementing
agency policy and procedure, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and administering significant fiscal resources – all while supporting strong business practices and delivering results.
As such, it is imperative for Directors of Corrections to stay current regarding critical issues facing the field and methods for effectively addressing areas of need.
It is critically important for them to keep abreast of correctional best practices and emerging issues, as well as developing and maintaining a strong peer network of other correctional administrators.
Other Directors of Corrections provide vital assistance in gathering information, sharing perspectives, and providing possible solutions to their peers.
NIC supports the state and large urban system Directors of Corrections through executive level training and networking opportunities, designed to enhance correctional practice.
NIC supports the Directors of the 50 state departments of corrections, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U. S. Territories of Guam, the Virgin Islands, the Northern Marianas and five major urban correctional systems (Los Angeles County, Cook County (Chicago), the District of Columbia, New York City, and Philadelphia).
Through this solicitation, NIC will enter into a cooperative agreement with an entity or entities who seek to improve the effectiveness of Directors of Corrections through a number of professional, collaborative learning experiences.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
NIC invites applications from nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations), for-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education).
Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services rendered.
NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the primary applicant and the other(s) must be proposed as sub-recipients.
The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program, and must meet any special conditions specified in this solicitation.
NIC may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of funding
