This project seeks to answer two questions:
What information and resources currently exist on water resources in Cobre Valley and what further research is necessary to provide valuable and accurate resources to community members and decision-makers about their
water resources in the region? Specific objectives include (1) Compile and document all research and data currently available about the water management, resources, and issues in the Cobre Valley; and (2) Evaluate compiled research and data in order to identify gaps and provide recommendations of what work is needed to fill those gaps.
Through identifying knowledge gaps and community water management concerns this project will enhance water management capacity in the region, contribute to the regions ability to conserve water and increase efficiency, and increase the region’s resiliency to climate change, particularly to the impacts of drought.
The study will focus on the Cobre Valley, located in the southern edge of Salt River Basin in Arizona, which encompasses several communities, including Globe, Miami, and Claypool.
Sharon B.
