Increasing the Capacity of the Southern Province Health Office (SPHO) to Provide Comprehensive and Sustainable HIV and AIDS Prevention, Care and Treatment Support in the Republic of Zambia under PEPFAR

The purpose of this program is to increase capacity of the Southern Provinical Health Office to provide HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services.

This program will continue to support progress made towards sustainable control of the HIV epidemic as part of the larger PEPFAR portfolio which

is embarking on bold steps to pivot towards data driven approaches to strategically target geographical areas and populations where HIV/AIDS is most prevalent.

The program will encourage the expansion of access to a combination of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care services that are most effective and efficient in preventing new infections and saving lives.

Continued interventions are antiretroviral therapy (ART), prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), counseling and testing for HIV to all TB patients, voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC), HIV testing services (HTC), targeted interventions for key populations and strengthening laboratory services to support HIV care and treatment services.
