The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Sport Fish Division conducts an Alaska Freshwater Fish Inventory (AFFI) program throughout the State, with various regions being targeted depending on an evaluation of priorities and data gaps.
The State agency is the only entity that has conducted this
program, which they have done successfully for more than the last two decades.
The State also manages and maintains the official AFFI database as well as the Anadromous Waters Catalog (AWC).

Over the next two summers, this program would be collecting information about fish species with the vast expanse of the NPR-A.
To accomplish this task a targeted number of site would be used on both State and BLM lands.
