Symposium for International Exchange Alumni from Western India

The Public Affairs Section of the U. S. Consulate General in Mumbai (PAS Mumbai) seeks proposals to assist in all logistical arrangements for the symposium.

The grantee will work collaboratively with PAS Mumbai and get its approval on its recommendations for any program topics and speakers.

The

one-and-one-half-day outreach symposium will bring together 100 U. S. State Department exchange alumni for a networking reception in the evening that will provide an opportunity for alumni to connect among themselves and with U. S. Consulate General Mumbai staff to develop contacts to advise them on future programs and activities.

The following day will be devoted to presentations, discussions, and break-out sessions that will focus on such topics as how to identify feasible programs and activities, how to structure programs and whom to invite, how to give effective presentations to help build partnerships and collaborations, how to publicize programs, how to work with consulate counterparts, how to program individually and how to form effective alumni teams around a topic of interest, how to establish and maintain alumni networks and communication, and how to pursue resources such as grant opportunities for alumni-led projects.

The symposium will encourage alumni to contribute their expertise to programs and activities on themes of mutual interest to India and the United States that include, but are not limited to, clean energy, women’s safety and empowerment, entrepreneurship, civil rights, the environment, poverty reduction, and expanded U.S.-Indian business and educational ties.
