Promote Great Lakes Ecosystem Health Through Education About Invasive Species and their Prevention – Great Lakes Restoration Initiative #669

OVERVIEW, RECIPIENT AND NPS SUBSTANTIAL INVOLVEMENTThe Cooperator will help the National Park Service and multi-agency Great Lakes Restoration Initiative by planning and creating outreach materials to communicate the dangers posed by the spread of invasive species via public recreation activities.



Wildlife Forever will collaborate with the National Park Service in the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), funded through the Environmental Protection Agency for the Invasive Species Focus Area, Project #669— Promote Great Lakes Ecosystem Health Through Education About Invasive Species and their Prevention.” The Cooperator is uniquely situated to collaboration with the NPS and other federal partners due to their technical expertise, location, and innovative approaches to communications.

Wildlife Forever is also receiving funds from the Fish and Wildlife Service and Forest Service to ensure a coordinated effort of outreach and consistent message across the Great Lakes.

NPS is able able to leverage available funds for education and outreach and reach and educate more people by contributing to this collaborative effort coordinated by Wildlife Forever effort than if we support a different organization with only our funds.NPS will communicate quarterly to coordinate project activities, track project progress, share information, discuss best methods and approaches with the Cooperator and facilitate coordination and collaboration with other projects conducted at other Great Lakes parks, forests and refuges by NPS, US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife and others to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
