Appalachian Trail: FY17 Trail Boundary Maintenance-Southern

This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award a task agreement under a previously single source justified master cooperative agreement.

Specifically, ATC will:
1. Work cooperatively with the NPS, the US Forest Service, and other partners

to identify, map, prioritize, and plan Maintained Landscape projects.

2. Prior to beginning work, submit an itemized and costed workplan by FMSS Location per ATC Region in a mutually agreed upon format.

Workplans to including:
site information, dates, field tasks, and expected measurable results.

3. Directly administer the Maintained Landscape maintenance programs, to conduct and support volunteer maintenance activities, including mowing, woody and herbaceous vegetation removal, hazard tree removal, and/or other Maintained Landscape related management activities 4. Develop and administer contracts or other instruments for mowing or other control methods as necessary to achieve desired landscape conditions.

5. Procure materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete the project, in accordance with NPS procurement policies.

6. Coordinate activities related to integrated pest management including, assessing pesticide and genetically modified seed use on NPS agricultural lands, and monitoring and establishing action thresholds for vegetation and pest management.

7. Ensure computer hardware and software related to Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information System (GIS), and database functions are adequate to complete the necessary work and meet NPS specifications for those technologies.

8. Participate in and provide monthly updates as part of a larger facility management meeting.

9. Provide itemized project completion reports per ATC Region in a mutually agreed upon format that includes:
site information, tasks and corresponding dates, and measurable results.
