was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association (hereafter referred to as ‘Recipient’) to to build the next generation of conservation leaders This project engages a 30-day Conservation Crew with 8 crew members and 2 crew leaders to participate in educational programs and hands-on learning opportunities while working to repair sections of the 20-miles of historic carriage roads and trails and maintenance on associated views, vistas and cultural landscape features at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park.A.
The crew will participate in orientation to the NPS and Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP, and review safety considerations relevant to the park and specific work projects.
They will conduct an assessment of carriage road and trail drainage and perform maintenance on drainage ditches, culverts, and water bars and work on other deferred maintenance projects that include bridge repair/replacement, treadway re-conditioning, installing new drainage structures, and view and vista management.
The Crew will also participate in a series of tours and hands-on educational opportunities at the park and with partner sites, including the Billings Farm & Museum, Woodstock Trails Partnership, Vermont Land Trust/King Farm, and nearby NPS units including Saint-Gaudens National Historical Site and the Appalachian Trail.
