This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award financial assistance for the following project activities.
Master Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00031 was entered into by and between
the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association (SCA) to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land through service opportunities, outdoor skills, and leadership training.
This project will provide an opportunity for a two interns to support NPS preservation and conservation efforts by working closely with the park’s maintenance, carpentry and mason shops in the planning and execution of historic preservation projects throughout the park.
The candidates will work with journeyman level mechanics and independently apply knowledge of a variety of trades (heavy equipment operation, carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, and roofing) to perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and minor construction of historic buildings, structures, and utility systems; use and maintain the tools and equipment of the trades, understand and interpret instructions and specifications of the trades, including blueprints; operate boom lift; follow safe work procedures to prevent damage and harm to equipment, property, self, and others; and interact professionally with other people.
Note that funding amount includes Americorps and NPS funding amounts.
