Youth Research Associate Program at Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument

A staff of one to two research associates will be recruited for ecological and interpretation/digital media projects.

The ecology research associate will lead a crew of approximately 2-3 individuals and will collaborate with NPS to identify invasive plants, collect survey data, and run statistical

analyses.

These surveys have been used to inform NPS fire program about expected fuel loads along their major points of access to potential fires and to help identify an effective weed treatment program.

The interpretation/digital media research associate will collaborate with NPS in the development and storyboarding of video projects; and will assist in planning, directing, and shooting new video, including interviews and B roll, as well as providing existing stock video; edit each video and provide rough-cut and fine-cut review for NPS; add music when appropriate; post the final version to youtube and coordinate the social media launch of each episode.

The interpretation/digital media research associate will assist with developing education and interpretation products including, research, write, and design layout of media products; assist with coordinating social media postings; and assist with photographing and documenting the Monument.
