Natural Resource Management and Ecological Restoration in the Redwood Creek
Natural Resource Management and Ecological Restoration in the Redwood Creek.
The public will benefit from this project through the expanded partnership among multiple parties, including California State Parks, to jointly manage natural resources across property boundaries.
The public will
benefit by having the opportunity to experience increased robust and diverse native plant communities throughout the Redwood Creek watershed.
Visitors will be able to access the newly enhanced areas of the park for recreation activities such as hiking and wildlife viewing.
This project supports the Secretaryâ¿¿s priority to â¿¿utilize science to identify best practicesâ¿ ( 1. a.) for managing natural resources in Muir Woods and other parts of the Redwood Creek watershed, one of the sites within Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
This task agreement will facilitate collaboration on natural resources management including native plant restoration, invasive plant management, wildlife monitoring, citizen science, project planning, vegetation mapping and associated reporting within the Redwood Creek Watershed.
This collaborative project will use the best available science to manage the Redwood Creek Watershed.
By working with land management partners including California State Parks, we will maximize efficiency and streamline processes which also supports the Secretaryâ¿¿s priorities to â¿¿examine land use planning process and land use designations that govern public use and accessâ¿ ( 1. b.) and to â¿¿shift the balance towards providing greater public access to public lands over restrictions to accessâ¿ ( 1. g.).
Our management actions will result in improvement management of the Redwood Creek Watershed including healthy forest regeneration and enhancement of fisheries within the Redwood Creek watershed.
Actions accomplished through this task agreement will result in an improved visitor experience and wildlife viewing opportunities in this highly visited area of the park.
This project directly supports the trails program within the Redwood Creek watershed.
Work under this project includes collaboration with the trails program and support in planning and implementing trails projects which supports the Secretaryâ¿¿s priorities to â¿¿Prioritize DOI infrastructure needsâ¿ ( 8. c.2&3) Finally, this project supports the Secretaryâ¿¿s priority to create jobs in the American economy through the hiring of biologists to implement this project.
