Alter Selma Interpretive and Partnership Center

The overall goals are to complete the Selma Interpretive Center’s immersion experience, enabling visitors to better understand the significance of the historic Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March of 196 5. The objective of phase one is to provide planning and design services for the anticipated

expansion of the Selma Interpretive Center at 2 Broad Street into the adjacent historic first floor retail space at 4 Broad Street in Selma, Alabama.

Phase two will provide for building improvements to 4 Broad Street that will included:
a theater for 100 people; an elevator 2 additional ADA/ABA restrooms; interpretive space; exterior envelope rehabilitation on the roof and façades; construction of a rear stairway for fire egress; structural repair to the floors and roof; fire suppression; and enhancements to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to support the aforementioned improvements.
