Enhancing Cross-National Research within the Health and Retirement Study Family of Studies (R01)

The purpose of this announcement is to enhance comparability among a specific group of measures in the US Health and Retirement Study and the family of comparable longitudinal aging studies around the world.

For the purposes of this FOA, the specific measures are cognition and dementia assessment;

personality and non-cognitive-character-skills; social isolation and loneliness; physical activity; and life histories.

Enhancing the comparability of these measures will support cross-national behavioral and social research in aging in areas that are of a high priority to the Division of Behavioral and Social Research at National Institute on Aging.

Responsive applications will propose activities such as pilot studies; calibration to gold standard measures; or methods to increase item, measure, or construct comparability.
