Epicenters for the Prevention of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs); Cycle II Multicenter Program Studies

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to utilize a research Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) prevention network to identify and validate novel strategies for HAI prevention.

CDC is interested in building upon ongoing prevention research being conducted within the

RFA-CK-15-004 Prevention Epicenter Program.

The multicenter design of this program will be of great benefit by moving early-phase strategies down the translational pathway to generate the greatest public health impact.

The objective of this NOFO is to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of epidemiologically based strategies to improve healthcare quality and patient safety.

This program seeks to translate basic, epidemiological and technological discoveries into new strategies for preventing transmission of infectious pathogens (viral, bacterial or fungal) in healthcare settings.

This includes pathogens, such as antibiotic-resistant bacteria, that are transmitted among patients, healthcare workers and the environment.
