DOD Toxic Exposures, Translational Research Award

The FY22 TERP TRA is intended to support translational research that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas in toxic exposure research into clinical applications including health care products, interventions, technologies, and/or clinical practice guidelines.

Translational research may

be defined as an integration of basic science and clinical observations.

New Approach Methodologies may also be used.

The ultimate goal of translational research is to move a concept or observation forward into clinical application that is relevant to active-duty Service Members, Veterans, other military beneficiaries, and/or the American public.

Applications should provide evidence for the reciprocal transfer of information between basic and clinical science or vice versa in developing and implementing the research plan.Impact:
The application should explicitly state how the proposed research will have a significant impact on toxic exposure research and/or patient care with the intent to transition outcomes into clinical practice for Service Members, Veterans and/or the American public who have been, or could potentially be, impacted by toxic exposures.

State both the short and long-term impacts and how the proposed research will ultimately lead to new treatments/therapeutics, diagnostic assays or prevention strategies to improve the quality of life for those that have been impacted by, or are likely to encounter, toxic substances.Translational Potential:
Applications should clearly demonstrate the project’s potential near-term and long-term outcome(s)/product(s) (intellectual knowledge and/or tangible materiel) and how they will impact a critical problem or question in the field of research and/or patient care in at least one of the FY22 TERP Program Goals and at least one of the FY22 TERP Topic Areas addressed.
