Southwest Georgia United Empowerment Zone, Inc. is a certified CDFI in operation since 1994. The organization serves a USDA designated rural Empowerment Zone located in Crisp and Dooly Counties in southwest Georgia. Southwest Georgia United Empowerment Zone, Inc. provides microenterprise loans, affordable housing loans, development services, training and technical assistance programs for community groups, and operates a youth development program. Southwest Georgia United Empowerment Zone, Inc. will use its FY09 Financial Assistance award as lending capital and its FY09 Technical Assistance grant for staff training, procuring a loan servicing software program, developing marketing and outreach services, and to develop a capitalization plan.
