The Kanu o ka ‘Aina Learning ‘Ohana (KALO) is a non-profit corporation that supports womb-to-tomb models of education for a sustainable Hawaii. KALO is a sponosoring entity that is creating a Native Hawaiian CDFI to provide charter school financing and development services throughout Hawaii. KALO will use the FY 2009 Technical Assistance award for: 1) staff salaries and fringe benefits; 2) staff training, travel and capacity building to become a Native CDFI; 3) professional services to develop a capitalization plan for the emerging orgnaization and develop culturally appropriate curriculum; and 4) computer equipment.
