CDFI Awards for Montana Community Development Corporation


FA (2009) - $2,000,000

Montana Community Development Corporation (Montana CDC) is a certified CDFI established in 1989. Montana CDC provides micro and small business loans and high-quality business consulting in a five county region in western Montana. It will use its FY 2009 Financial Assistance award as lending capital to small businesses in its Target Market.



NMTC (2008) - $40,000,000

Montana Community Development Corporation (MCDC) provides financing to small businesses and real estate projects located in distressed communities across Montana, with the majority of its activities in non-metropolitan counties. The NMTC allocation will enable MCDC to provide equity, debt with equity features and subordinated debt to finance larger projects than it has historically financed, in support of commercial properties, community facilities and business expansion. MCDC will use its NMTC award to offer interest rates that are at least 50 percent below market, and to introduce a new equity product. MCDC will also provide business consulting services to all borrowers and investees.

FA (2008) - $1,090,345

Montana CDC is a certified CDFI in operation since 1995 It serves a five-county region in western Montana, which includes both rural communities and the city of Missoula It provides business loans and technical assistance to emerging and/or small enterprises and provides both microloans and loans with equity-like features for larger companies Montana CDC will use the FY08 Financial Assistance award of $1,000,000 to increase its lending capital and the FY08 Technical Assistance grant of $90,345 to: 1) hire an additional Loan Officer; 2) conduct a market assessment and implement an impact reporting system; and 3) provide essential training to staff.



TA (2005) - $43,530

MCDC will use its 2005 TA award of $43,530 to develop and distribute marketing materials, enhance its website, upgrade computer hardware and software, and provide fund management and community development impact measurement training.

FA (2005) - $300,000

The financial assistance award of $300,000 will enable MCDC to increase lending by 25% to $5.25 million in new lending over the next three years. Its lending will create or retain 105 jobs and assist 28 women in starting and expanding their businesses. The technical assistance award of $43,000 will fund updating of MCDC"s Management Information Systems and its website as well as training staff on use of new software. These activities will improve MCDC"s services to its rural customers.



SECA (2001) - $50,000

The technical assistance award will cover the costs of consultant fees and staff salary for the development of the business plan and investment documents for the Awardee"s proposed quasi-equity loan product and staff and board training in venture capital.



CORE (1999) - $460,000

The CDFI Fund"s $460,000 award ($400,000 capital grant, $60,000 technical assistance) will be used to increase the capitalization and sustainability of MCDC"s loan programs, and to provide technology to increase the efficiency of its lending operations.
