Established in 2000, Azteca Community Loan Fund (ACLF) is a nonprofit loan fund that seeks to build the personal wealth of the extremely low-income residents of the Colonias with the intent of improving their living and housing conditions.

FA (2006) - $585,000

Azteca Community Loan Fund (ACLF) of San Juan, Texas was established in 2001. ACLF provides first mortgages to residents of Colonia communities in Hidalgo County, Texas. ACLF"s products and services helps families build safe affordable housing through a combination of financing and sweat equity. ACLF partners with a non-profit housing developer, Proyecta Azteca, to construct prefabricated housing units with families helping to build their unit and others in their group. ACLF will use its $585,000 Financial Assistance Award to increase the number of mortgage loans to its borrowers and provide micro-enterprise and consumer loans.



FA (2004) - $286,500

Azteca Community Loan Fund (ACLF) will combine the award with other funds to finance mortgage loans and provide Individual Development Accounts matching funds for 35 low-income Colonia residents.



FA (2003) - $500,000

Azteca Community Loan Fund (ACLF) is being awarded $500,000 to finance a "cascaron" home kit for 100 colonia families who currently live in substandard housing. Through the use of self-help labor, a skilled and dedicated builder and crew, and innovative and efficient building techniques, ACLF is able to offer families a quality home product, moved to their colonia lot and ready to connect to utilities for $15,000. Approximately 34% of this award will be targeted toward Hot Zones.



SECA (2001) - $200,000

ACLF has received a technical assistance award to acquire technology, training and consulting products and services, and financial assistance to capitalize its loan fund.
