His autobiography features his early years, experiences in surviving Nazi occupation in Hungary, and commitments to liberal democracy, open society and academic freedom.

An influential figure, Soros has gained political enemies around the world because of his 'political philanthropy' advocacy. He established the Open Society Foundations in 1984 that fund a range of global initiatives.
