PEPFAR’s pivot to supporting two regions in Vietnam to achieve 90:90:90 goals in 2020 and gradual shift away from direct service delivery (DSD) support for Vietnam poses significant challenges and opportunities for the country in sustaining the national response to the HIV epidemic.
Major
challenges include how to maintain national case finding activities, treatment access, retention, and quality in the context of drastically reduced funding for HIV programs.
As a long-standing partner to Vietnam Ministry of Health (MOH), CDC is committed to continuing to identify innovations and build technical capacity at all levels of the health system to ensure the continuity of quality and affordable services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and achievement of epidemic control goals in select regions.Through this NOFO, PEPFAR/CDC’s support aims to support Government of Vietnam (GVN) to achieve epidemic control in select regions; introduce innovative models and technologies to enhance effectiveness in HIV prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment; develop and sustain an integrated HIV technical assistance (TA) network at national, regional and provincial level; and strengthen MOH’s TA coordination function.
