Ethiopia Public Health Innovations Collaborative (EPIC) under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

With support from PEPFAR, Ethiopia has achieved commendable progress to control and eliminate the HIV/AIDS pandemic by
203 0. However, the gap in clinical service quality and human resources for health (HRH) is still immense.
Engagement of local universities with medical and public education is very necessary as these universities are located in different parts of the country and most of them run a teaching hospital that provide clinical services to a large number of people living with HIV (PLHIV).
The Ethiopia Public Health Innovations Collaborative (EPIC) is a new competitive NOFO which intends to solve the gaps in human resource needs.
The recipient(s) are expected to build the capacity of Ethiopian Higher Learning Institutes with public health background by establishing a consortium that can support the Ministry of Health (MoH) and its federal and regional bureaus (RHB) for enabling the environment to improve the quality of HRH supporting the HIV program.
The recipient(s) will strengthen mentorship and centers of excellence that would provide timely and need based training to health workers.
Through the consortium and the training institutions, health care workers’ capacity will increase, and quality of services will be improved.
In addition to technical assistance (TA), the recipient(s) will be expected to conduct programmatic evaluations and surveys to generate evidence-based approaches for quality clinical services and improved overall health system.
