Provision of Salary Support for Additional Health Care Workers to Support Ministry of Health to Sustain Epidemic Control in Malawi under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $2,500,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds.

This NOFO will focus on two major objectives:
1) to provide critical human resources support to the Ministry of Health

(MOH) through recruitment and deployment of additional healthcare workers (HCWs) (All recruited HCWs will be governed by Malawi Government working conditions which includes salaries and supervision); 2) and to improve governance and leadership at the district level.

The recipient will provide salary support for HCWs to five PEPFAR high-burden districts and conduct human resources for health (HRH) analysis to inform equitable distribution of HRH across the districts.

The recipient shall ensure that PEPFAR needs are well aligned with MOH for easy transition at the end of the project.

As the country has reached epidemic control, there is pressing need to increase local capacity to manage the HIV program for sustainability.

The recipient shall focus on strengthening district-level financial management systems, program monitoring and evaluation, and data use to inform program implementation.
