Engineering Scale Testing for Carbon Capture from Coal- and Natural Gas-Based Flue Gas and Initial Engineering Design for Industrial Sources

The Notice of Intent is for informational purposes only and the Department of Energy is not seeking comments on the information contained in the notice.

The Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement DE-FOA-0002187 on behalf of

the Office of Fossil Energy.

The Funding Opportunity Announcement is anticipated to be issued in March 202 0. This Funding Opportunity Announcement supports the Department of Energy’s Carbon Capture program through the investigation of carbon capture on three types of CO2 sources:
industrial sources, natural gas, and coal power flue gases.

Projects under this Funding Opportunity Announcement will fall under two different types.

The first type will be initial engineering studies of carbon capture systems for industrial CO2 sources.

The second type will test advanced carbon capture materials, processes, or a combination of advanced materials and processes at engineering scales.

All areas of interest will require domestic host sites.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Proposers must be affiliated with an institution at nspires.nasaprs.com/ and, in general, NASA provides funding only to US institutions.

Organizations outside the U. S. that propose on the basis of a policy of no-exchange-of-funds; consult the Guidebook for Proposers (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/procurement/nraguidebook/) for specific details.

Some NRAs may be issued jointly with a non-U. S. organization, e.g., those concerning guest observing programs for jointly sponsored space science programs, that will contain additional special guidelines for non-U. S. participants.

Also reference the Guidebook for Proposers for special instructions for proposals from non-U. S. organizations that involve U. S. personnel for whom NASA support is requested.
