Newborn Screening Data Repository and Technical Assistance Program

This program announcement solicits applications for the Newborn Screening Data Repository and Technical Assistance Program.

The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to enable the recipients to:
1) Enhance, improve and expand the ability of states and local public health agencies to

credit:


provide screening, counseling, or health care services to newborns and children having or at risk for heritable disorders; 2) Assist in providing health care practitioners and newborn screening laboratory personnel with education in newborn screening and training in relevant and new technologies in newborn screening and congenital, genetic and metabolic disorders; and 3) Establish, maintain, and operate a system to assess and coordinate follow-up and treatment relating to congenital and genetic (including metabolic) disorders identified through newborn screening.

To fulfill these criteria, the recipient will provide technical assistance to state and local public health agencies, health care professionals, newborn screening laboratory personnel, and other newborn screening stakeholders on the implementation of state-based public health newborn screening.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
A state or a political subdivision of a state; a consortium of two or more states or political subdivisions of states; a territory; a health facility or program operated by or pursuant to a contract with or grant from the Indian Health Service; or any other domestic entity with appropriate expertise in newborn screening.
