Liberia’s environment is challenging, and its infrastructure is minimal.
For the majority of Liberian citizens, criminal justice institutions do not meet basic community needs and access to justice historically has been difficult.
Moreover, lack of professional skills development,
lack of basic office equipment, and delayed payment of salaries remain serious challenges for Liberia’s criminal justice institutions.
This project's goal is to have improved adherence to standardized procedures, best practices, and human rights methods in targeted corrections facilities.
This project supports training and mentoring among corrections staff at all levels (executive, mid-level, and rank-and-file).
This project will also support records management procedures that track pre-trial detainees and inmates, and the development and implementation of standard operating procedures that are applied system wide to ensure human rights standards and security.
