Assessment and Improvement of Prison Personnel Interaction with Inmates and Human Rights Compliance in Salvadoran Prisons

The goal of this project is to enhance prison personnel capabilities through cognitive training, promoting a mentality change in the treatment of inmates, encouraging compliance with international human rights guidelines, and supporting a peace culture that nurtures inmates’ rehabilitation and

reinsertion into society.

Objective 1:
Perform an initial assessment of the current prison personnel interaction with inmates and the mechanisms in place to submit human rights complaints within the prison system in El Salvador.

A baseline evaluation should be developed as well as a monitoring process and a final evaluation that allows to measure the impact of the project.

Objective 2:
Create and implement a system to submit human right complaints with confidentiality and transparency that protect inmate’s integrity and freedom of expression.

Objective 3:
Provide training to executive staff, case management teams and correctional officers from 19 selected locations to benefit at minimum 1200 participants.
