The Bureau of Land Management's(BLM) mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations and promotes multiple-use on public lands, consistent with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act(FLPMA).
The BLM
in recent years has seen institutional knowledge leave the bureau primarily through retirements in areas related to energy development, cultural and natural resource areas.
Attrition, lack of predictable and sustained funding levels in program areas and significant administrative time it takes to hire, has made it difficult for the BLM to provide mentoring, overlap in positions, and successional planning.
The BLM has an opportunity to partner with a qualified nonprofit organization to assist BLM in establishing BLMs Pilot Experienced Services Program and complete priority conservation projects throughout the bureau.
