Operation of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Trail and Visitor Center at Nebraska City, NE - LECL

The project assists in the promotion, facilitation, and improvement of public understanding of natural, cultural, andrecreational aspects of the Lewis & Clark Trail.

The visitor center directly promotes interpretation of the Lewis & Clark Trailwith an emphasis on the flora and fauna of

the National Historic Trail.

Operation of this visitor center raises awareness ofthe public stewardship of the trail and helps educate the public about the American Indian populations that Lewis & Clarkencountered.

Several of the exhibits associated with this project promote environmental and cultural stewardship(including but not limited to Undaunted Anglers & upkeep on the Earth Lodge).

These and other exhibits increase publicawareness, knowledge and support for historical preservation and stewardship of the nation’s cultural and historicalheritage.

The project engages recipients, partners, communities, and/or visitors in shared environmental stewardship.

How:
thepublic visitor center promotes interpretation of the Lewis and Clark Trail with an emphasis on the flora and fauna of theNational Historic Trail.

The project builds resource stewardship ethics in its participants.

The information, products and/or services identified ordeveloped by this project will be shared through a variety of strategies to increase public awareness, knowledge andsupport for historic preservation and stewardship of the nation’s cultural and historical heritage.

The Recipient Agrees to:
1. Participation in Middle Missouri Lewis and Clark River Network (MIDMO).

The objective of this group it to continue the Lewis and Clark story post bicentennial and perpetuates the recognition and visitor opportunities in combination with site protection.

2. Submit outreach plans to be reviewed by NPS staff.

3. Meet quarterly with NPS staff to plan specific events.

4. Accurately document salary, maintenance and utility costs for reimbursement.

5. Maintain visitation and volunteer statistics for reporting purposes.

6. Formulate and execute fee structure for public visitation and use of MRB Lewis and Clark Center which allows for public use and enjoyment.
