The most significant public purpose of this project is the youth development these corpsmembers will achieve from:
specific job skills training, exposure to federal lands stewardship opportunities, and learning of wilderness-derived values and outdoor ethics through this personal development curriculum.
However,
indirectly, visitors to this area will enjoy a more enhanced natural environment due to the efforts of these youth conservation activities.
Upon completion of this project, the public will have safer trails, but these youth will have gained the natural resource and technical knowledge to pursue job opportunities or further their education in such fields as public land management.
Additionally, this project intends to instill the confidence for these corpsmembers to develop strong leadership and team-building abilities to use in their everyday lives.
This will enable them to interact with their communities and promote involvement and responsible citizenship in regards to public land stewardship.
