University Partnership Countering Climate Change in Sindh and Balochistan

The Public Affairs Section of the U. S. Consulate in Karachi (PAS Karachi) is pleased to announce an open competition seeking proposals to establish a University Partnership between one or more accredited, four-year U. S. colleges or universities and three Pakistani universities:
Sindh Agriculture

University (SAU), Tandojam and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Sindh province, and Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water & Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) in Balochistan province.

The thematic area of this partnership is countering climate change, with a focus on adaptation and mitigation.

U. S. accredited four-year colleges and universities meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 U.S.C.

501(c)(3) are eligible and encouraged to apply.

 Under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), PAS Karachi seeks proposals that will bolster curriculum development and provide collaborative research, virtual teaching exchanges, sharing of pedagogical resources, professional development for faculty, and faculty-and-student exchanges.

The means of achieving these objectives is left purposefully broad to encourage the submission of innovative proposals tailored to the international education and research goals of the grantee institution as well as the Pakistani institutions.

Projects could be aimed at leading to the establishment of activities, products and structures at the universities, that will help drive policy action.

Applicants should consult with SAU, MUET and LUAWMS when developing their proposal.

The timeframe for achieving the objectives must be clearly outlined in the proposal funding request.

The project implementation period should be 24 to 36 months.

Proposals have a funding floor of $450,000 and a funding ceiling of $500,00 0. The award will be contingent on available funding.
