Annual Program Statement for Alumni Outreach Grants, Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy, Tashkent

The U. S. Embassy Public Affairs Section (PAS) in Tashkent is soliciting proposals for grants from alumni of U. S. government exchange programs who are citizens of Uzbekistan.

Applicants should pay close attention to these priorities, the Public Affairs Section’s goals, and target audiences

when developing their proposals.

Due to the volume of applicants and inquiries, PAS does not accept letters of intent, concept papers, or requests for meetings prior to application.

Limited phone consultations are possible.PAS Tashkent invites proposals for projects that focus on one of the priority areas specified below.More information about the Public Affairs Section Alumni Grants program can be found at:

Funding is available for projects that address the priority areas below and focus on Public Affairs’ key audiences, including:
civil society organizations, entrepreneurs/innovators, US exchange alumni journalists, women, and youth (14-25 years old).Theme:
Uzbekistan is going through a period of profound change and civil society organizations will be key to helping the government achieve its reform program.

Embassy Tashkent supports effective programs that empower civil society, reform governance, and advance human rights.Grant proposals should address one or more of these Public Affairs priority areas:
1. Strengthening Civic Education and Civil Society 2. Supporting Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment 3. Supporting Increased Transparency, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law 4. Fostering a Strong and Independent Media 5. Protecting the Environment 6. Supporting Educational Reforms

The U. S. Embassy Tashkent Public Affairs Section encourages applications from citizens of Uzbekistan who are alumni of USG exchange programs under the Alumni Grants program.

Prior experience in completing grant projects is encouraged, but not required.

This experience should be documented in the applicant’s proposal.
