Centers of Excellence at 1890 Institutions (1890 COEs)

The intent of the 1890 COEs Program is to provide support for Centers of Excellence that were originally established in 2015 in conjunction with the 125th Anniversary of the Second Morrill Act of 189 0. The 1890 COEs are hosted by 1890 Land-Grant Institutions with the goals of:
1) increasing profitability

and rural prosperity in underserved farming communities; 2) addressing critical needs for enhanced international training and development; and 3) increasing diversity in the science, technology, engineering, agriculture and mathematics (STEAM) pipeline.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Letters of Intent (LOI) (see Part IV., A., Letter of Intent (LOI) Instructions) may only be submitted by an individual or consortium of the nineteen 1890 land-grant institutions, including Tuskegee University (as identified in the Second Morrill Act; 7 U.S.C.

322 et seq.).

Full applications will be requested from individual or consortium of the 1890 land-grant institutions selected by NIFA.

Grant recipients may subcontract to organizations not eligible to apply for the purpose of supporting the overall coordination and administration of the 1890 COEs.

Failure to meet the eligibility criteria by the application deadline may result in exclusion from consideration or, preclude NIFA from making an award.
