Notice of Intent: 1:100,000 Scale Quaternary Mapping of the Superior Region Wisconsin

Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the Wisconsin Geological and Natural Hi story Survey, under the auspices of the University of Wisconsin, in support of their project entitled " 1:100,000 Scale Quaternary Mapping of the Superior Region Wisconsin".

The main objective

of the project is surficial mapping of the four counties bordering Lake Superior in northwestern Wisconsin at a scale of 1:100,00 0. This year’s mapping will focus on Bayfield County, and resulting maps will inform aggregate mining, flood hazards, and three-dimensional distribution of glacial and proglacial sediments in the region.

As part of the Great Lakes Geologic Mapping Coalition, the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey is uniquely qualified to perform the project objectives.
