The Department of Defense provides the military forces needed to deter war and protect the security of the United States through five major areas: peacekeeping and war-fighting efforts, Homeland Security, evacuation and humanitarian causes.
The Corps conducts 50 to 250 flood emergency operations annually.
Uses and Use Restrictions
Emergency assistance is provided in all phases of flood response and post flood response to supplement State and local efforts.
State and local governments must use their own resources to the maximum extent feasible, usually including the furnishing of common labor.
No specific restrictions are placed on such assistance.
