In a conversation with Tara Westover, author of the best-selling 2018 memoir, Educated, Jeffrey Goldberg dives into the issues surrounding cultural separation and mutual misunderstanding in America.

The interview with Tara addresses the "experience gap" in the nation, how people in Idaho and people in New York City have more in common than they think, poor political hygiene, defining "breaking of charity" and its causes, the xenophobia and racism and tribalism in the country, and representation of the Democratic Party.

When asked what is causing the current political divide, Tara responds that the divide can be seen at both local, state, and political levels. According to her, the "2016 election was about geospatial inequality. It was about the parts of the country that are suffering under technological change and globalization."

Tara also tackles some serious problems that are hitting rural America, such as obesity and lower number of college graduates.
