Richard C. Harwood, author of "Stepping Forward: a Positive Practical Path to Transform Our Communities and Our Lives," addresses how people across the Untied States are pulling back from their shared lives, closing off from each other, and losing their sense of possibility.

Harwood, while finding a widespread deep discontent throughout his nationwide travels, points out a sliver of light: People are hungry to hear a distinct and different civic message.

According to Harwood, this civic message is a more positive, practical path to transform communities and people's lives - and thus put the nation on a more hopeful course.

He points out how philosophy can help spark a different conversation in communities across the nation and bridge the great divide through shared goals and shared responsibilities.
