This award will focus on strengthening HIV combination prevention within all correctional facilities in South Africa.
Innovative combination prevention interventions will address HIV risk and increase protective behaviors among inmates, accompanied by voluntary medical male circumcision, and HIV
Testing Services (HTS).
The target populations include inmates, released individuals, and Department of Correctional Services (DCS) staff.
Inmates (especially those awaiting trial and juveniles) will be targeted with prevention, testing, and linkages to treatment, while capacity will be built among staff to recognize, deliver, and sustain non-judgmental prevention and care services.
A strong linkage system to Department of Health (DoH) and other prevention interventions for released inmates will be developed and implemented.
Applicants should be familiar with working with key populations or prison populations and have or be able to establish strong relationships with the DCS, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to establish a supportive environment for prevention and linkages within and outside the confines of the prisons.
