Americas Partnership Fund for Nature

The U. S. Department of State, Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES) invites the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) to submit an application to implement a project aimed at fostering innovative financing mechanisms to mobilize investment in natural capital

with climate co-benefits in countries in Latin America and the Caribbean that are members of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (Americas Partnership).

In June 2022, the United States and partner countries launched the Americas Partnership at the Summit of Americas.

The Americas Partnership is a framework for regional cooperation to foster regional competitiveness, resilience, shared prosperity, and inclusive and sustainable investment.

Through this framework, the United States, together with partner countries, including Barbados, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay, are committed to sustainable development.

President Biden announced this Department of State funding at the Americas Partnership Leaders’ Summit in November 202 3. This grant will support Americas Partnership members in Latin America and the Caribbean to catalyze investment in natural capital and nature-based solutions (NBS), with the ultimate goal of reducing carbon emissions, protecting ecosystems, increasing job creation, and safeguarding lives and livelihoods from the impacts of climate change.

It will advance the climate priorities of the OES Office of Global Change (OES/EGC) and the Special Envoy for Climate Change (S/SPEC) and Administration goals related to conservation, climate action, and natural capital in APEP markets through scaled up investment and private-sector action.
