Fuels Reduction (Fire), Conservation Activiiters (Litter Removal); Lake Mead NRA

NDF and NPS will collaborate in the removal of fuels in and around camp grounds, picnic areas, and housing areas.

The wetter the spring of the year the more fuels will have to be removed.

NDF will also work on LAKE beach areas.

NDF crews will also remove exotic plants that grow along

the beaches where large mechanical equipment cannot reach.

Thus, the use of small hand tools will be required.

NDF also helps with litter reduction by picking up and removing litter as the crews are working the various areas.

The NDF crews work along the roadways of LAKE in an effort to reduce the amount of vegetation along the roads which can block drivers views of the roadway, in an effort to reduce the possibilities of vehicle accidents.

The nature of brush is that it grows back and each year and crews are required to reduce the fuel loads, in an effort to reduce the risk of wildland fires.

Each year brush and other fuels grow at different rates depending on the amount of rain and location of the rain storms.
