FY 2020 - Jovenes en Accion Program

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for the FY 2020 Jovenes en Accion (Youth in Action), an exchange program for Mexican high school students.

U. S. public and private non-profit organizations

meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to provide participants with a four-week summer exchange program in the United States focused on civic education, community service, and youth leadership development and to support the implementation of service projects in their home communities.This program will be funded as a joint initiative between the U. S. Department of State, the Mexican government, and the private sector.

U. S. Embassy Mexico City and the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education will recruit, screen, and select the participants.

ECA funding will support U.S.-based activities for approximately 25 participants to take place during summer 202 0. U. S. Embassy Mexico City anticipates additional funding to increase the total number of participants to approximately 75 students; proposals should indicate the applicant’s ability to host approximately 75 students and manage funding from multiple sources.

The Department reserves the right to reduce, revise, or increase proposal project configurations, budgets, and participant numbers in accordance with the needs of the program and the availability of funds.
