Supporting American-Style Higher Education in Iraq

The Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC), seeks applications to bolster and support American-style IHE in Iraq.

With this announcement, NEA/AC seeks to support multiple awards with the objective of building and increasing the institutional capacity of IHE

in Iraq.

Proposals shall address ways to develop new and ongoing partnerships between IHEs in Iraq and higher education institutions in the United States which focus on building the capacity of IHE and educational systems in Iraq to meet American higher education standards.

Proposals will be structured to allow for these partnerships to be sustained for a sufficient period of time in order to produce meaningful institutional improvements.

Institutional improvements may include:
short-term and long-term institutional capacity and sustainability, including diverse and sustainable funding streams; progress toward formal accreditation with Iraqi and U. S. accrediting bodies; curriculum development and reform; professional skills development; and increased size and diversity of the student body.
