The SUSIs for Global Student Leaders provide multinational groups of undergraduate students with a deeper understanding of U. S. society, culture, and institutions.

Each of the five Institutes focuses on a theme or topics in U. S. studies and will be five weeks in duration, including an approximately four-week academic residency at a U. S. academic institution and an approximately one-week integrated educational study tour.

The academic residency should take place on a U. S. university or college campus and should include academic coursework as well as weekly community service activities, weekly leadership and skills development sessions, and opportunities for interaction with speakers from diverse backgrounds and interaction with American peers.

The study tour should take participants to another region of the United States and complement the academic residency.
