FY 2008 Direct Certification and Verification Program

Eligible applicants are invited to compete for a 2008 Certification and Verification Grant.

The Child Nutrition and Wic Reacuthorization Act (ACT) of 2004, P.L.

108-265 provides a one-time appropriation of $9 million to be used to assist States in implementing mandatory direct certification

credit:


and verification of students' eligibility to receive free and reduced meal benefits in the school nutrition programs.

The Food and Nutrition Service awarded $ 5. 4 million of the available funding in fiscal years 2006 and 200 7. Additional details may be obtained by viewing the announcement.

Only U. S. academic institutions are eligible to apply.

Other Federal agencies, Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) Contractors, and nonprofit organizations described in section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 that engaged in lobbying activities after December 31, 1995 are not eligible to apply.

The Principal Investigator must be an untenured Assistant Professor or an untenured Associate Professor on the tenure track at a U. S. academic institution as of the deadline for the application.

No more than ten (10) years can have passed between the year the Principal Investigator's Ph.D.

was awarded and the year of the deadline for the application.

For the present competition, those who received doctorates no earlier than 2001 are eligible.
