Supporting Tolerance and Peace Advocacy at the Community Level

Embassy Rangoon announces an open competition for organizations to submit a Statement of Interest for Notice of Funding Opportunity (SOI/NOFO) for activities supporting peace and national reconciliation by increasing participation of civil society and women in the peace process and national political

dialogue.

The program encourages efforts to creatively address long-standing ethnic grievances, continue trust-building efforts in conflict-affected areas, and bridge ethnic, religious, disability, and sexual identity barriers to build inclusive communities throughout Burma.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
1. To increase the participation of civil society and women in the peace process and national political dialogue.

Activities may support civic engagement, particularly women, in the national political dialogue as well as thematic sector dialogues:
political, economic, security, and land and natural resources.

Activities may fall outside the NCA process.

2. To support greater understanding of federalism at the local levels, particularly among communities that may not perceive they are direct stakeholders in the peace process.

Activities may support community-level engagement on federalism, civic education, dissemination of information about peace-related issues; and identifying specific mechanisms to broaden the recognized stakeholders in the national dialogue.

3. To promote respect for diversity across regions and states, ethnicities, religions, disabilities, and sexual identities.

Activities may support local civil society organizations fostering inclusive processes at the community level as a means to mitigate future violence and build a peace-conscious society.

Applicants may apply for Fixed Award or grant funding.
